Give Me Break!

It doesn't matter if I get a flu shot or not I always get sick with something. Usually, my nephew gets it first and he passes his germs to me. Every year this is how it goes and always close to a holiday. Either Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years. This time Thanksgiving. My intent was to rest for two days while my nephew watched my mom on his regular two days. But, that didn't happen this time. I was all snuggled up in my bed on Sunday, hot tea not too far away along with the cold med if I needed them. But, I hear some hustle and bustle going on in the other room which is never good in his case. When he is off work he does as little moving as possible. You will see him on the couch or his phone but walking around opening doors to closets and such is not his thing on his days off. So, my sick spidery senses told me that something was up.  No sooner that I found a movie to watch from my warm bed here he came. I saw him standing in the doorway and he was in his work clothes. Dam, that is what I was thinking. Then those awful words came out of his mouth saying he has to go into work on his day off. Not that he didn't have a choice. I have heard him many times when he REALLY didn't want to go in on his day off say NO he isn't coming. So, that lead me to believe that he REALLY didn't want to stay here and REALLY didn't care if I had a 102 fever and could barely move or not. Ten seconds later he was out the door probably singing a happy tune and dancing all the way to the car.  He got out of here as my grandmother would say, "Like a bat outta hell."  So, I had no choice but to drag myself out of my warm bed and go into the front room where my mom was for the next ten hours. Did I mention that he doesn't hurry back from work EVER. If he is off a certain time then be prepared to wait at least an hour or two after his shift ends to come back. He works ten minutes from here at the most. He could crawl over broken glass and still be to work on time. So, trying to take care of a person when you are sick is no fun at all. I couldn't drag myself to the kitchen too cook for anyone so it was a day of door dashing. Not that I really had money to dash with but that was all I could do just to stay awake until they came.

Ten hours later when he returned, I had a few things to tell him and nothing was nice. He didn't say much which only means in his head he was probably thinking, "Hell yeah, I would do it all again to get out the house." I even asked him how can he leave one job, yes, he gets paid for watching my mom on two days, and go to another without finishing the first job? If he didn't want to do it then he should have said no and let my sister do it. But, nonetheless, I have a plan for next time I get sick or just a plan for his two days he is supposed to watch my mom. A BIG plan.
