It Is What It Isn't
I am not the kind of person who likes to put anything together. When I see "assembly required" that is a hard pass for me and I avoid those products like the plague. So, in searching for a microwave cart online I was looking for something that was easy to put together since times have changed and you just can't walk into a store these days and say I would like that one and could please assemble it please. So, there I was searching on several websites and came across one on Amazon and it said "easy assembly, no tools required, an adult can put it together in no more than 30 minutes." Well, in my world thirty minutes is not a short amount of time especially when I am trying to put something together with the crappy directions usually found in the box. But, I said what the heck I can do it. It was within my budget and I clicked the order now button and away we go. A few days later it arrived at my door. It was a medium size box so I drug it inside the house and let it stay in a corner of the room for a while while I pondered when I was going to attempt to put this thing together. A few hours later I was mentally ready. I opened the box and there were so many parts I almost closed it back. I was wondering what adult can put this together in an half an hour, surely I am not that adult. But, I didn't get too discouraged. I said to myself that I could do it. After all it was just a wire microwave cart with three shelves and wheels. I took out all the pieces and laid them out on the floor. I looked at the directions which was nothing more than pictures in three languages. I found the English version and tried to find part c to put into part b and wondered what happened to part a. Well, I almost had it. I had one shelf and four legs on and then it came crashing down. I didn't know it could make that loud of a noise on my floor but it did and I was ready to cuss and throw it out the nearest window. It had taken me a half an hour just to put those pieces together. But, nonetheless I was not going to be a quitter. I had failed at this putting together stuff before but this time I was determined to get it right. I looked at the picture again and found the parts and tried to put everything together like the picture. This time one leg fell off and the wheel went rolling across the room.
If my mom hadn't been in the room I really would have started cussing. But, you can't cuss in front of my mom so I took a deep breath and threw my hands up and now the microwave cart is a counter rack sitting on top of my counter with the two shelves out of three on it and on the top is where I put all my varieties of breads and on the bottom is a wide variety of can goods and boxes of grits and pancake mixes.
Well, I tried and if at first you don't succeed then make it something else. Now, I need to find out what to do with the extra pieces and then when I find another microwave cart I need to find someone who has actual skills to put it together.
