Dresser-Less
As far as I can remember I have always had a dresser to put my clothes in. Everyone I knew had one in their bedrooms. They were all in different sizes, shapes and colors but they were there when you opened any bedroom door somewhere in that bedroom was a dresser.
For the last seven or eight years or so I have been living without one. After a move about that time and after loosing a lot of furniture, dresser included, I have to be creative about where to put my clothes, my son's clothes, and my mom's clothes. So, I got the idea of those rolling plastic storage bins that you can put stuff in. I said to myself that it was portable, and not too expensive so it would not break the bank in money. I got one for my mom and it was fine for her. It sits in a closet off the living room and most of her stuff fits in it just fine and when I want to find something of hers I know where to go and where to look and since we are space challenged around here it was the perfect option. So, I got one for my son also. Actually, the plan was I was going to have one drawer and he was going to have two. Well, in the process of ordering one from Amazon, my go to online ordering place most of the time, I had forgotten about how heavy handed and hard on stuff that he can be at times.
So, I happily ordered it and when it got here he happily put his stuff, the stuff he could fit inside of both of the drawers that were his. I filled up my drawer also. So, we were good for about a week and half. Then one day he comes to tell me that there has been an "accident" with the one of the drawers. Meaning that he had somehow did something to it and the something he did accidentally made the drawer not open or close correctly. Well, it was fixable for the most part and although you have to pull a little harder now to open it and push a little harder to close it at least it still opens and closes.
I guess I never really missed a dresser until I didn't have one. Until then we had been "living" out of boxes, bags and totes. There is a closet but somehow we never have enough hangers. Somehow the hangers would just disappear into a black hanger whole. So, between the closet, the portable dresser as I call it and the rest of the clothes that have been moved to smaller storage canvas things we are surviving without dressers. Which is not so bad if you think about it.
