Curse of the Uncooked Turkey
I was trying not to cook a turkey this year like last year. I didn't want to go through all of that cooking. I am not a foodie and being in the kitchen all day long is not my cup of tea. I used to do it back in the day when I was engaged for the most part but the engaged person didn't appreciate it at all and was always at work leaving me to eat turkey, pie, stuffing, etc..all alone. So, I guess that is part of the reason that now I don't really like to cook a big dinner. Therefore, last week I ordered a fully cooked dinner from the Safeway holiday line. The man who took my order was very nice and made chit chat conversation while taking my order. He advised me to pick it up two days before Thanksgiving because the sides were going to be frozen and would need time to thaw and possibly the turkey would be frozen too. So, I gave him my information and chose the date for today two days before Thanksgiving. I told my nephew to go to the store to pick it up since I couldn't go so he came back with an uncooked turkey, it was not frozen but not the beautifully cooked turkey that was promised.
Needless to say, I was not happy at all. I called the store and got put on hold and never got taken off of hold, nobody came to the phone. I called back 3 more times same thing happened. So, then I emailed them and they sent an automated response saying they got the email with a 800 number if you needed an immediate response. I called the 800 number because I need a response period. After 10 min on hold a human voice answers and he said oh let me transfer you. I get transferred. A man comes on gives his first and last names and then right in the middle of me saying what I was calling for I get a automated message saying we are sorry all the lines are busy call back. I get hung up on. By this time I am livid. I contemplated on calling me an Uber or something to drive me up there raw turkey in hand and give them a piece of my mind and a turkey. But since it is not feasible to leave my mom alone then that is not an option for me.
I really don't feel like trying to cook a 12 pound turkey two days before Thanksgiving or even one day before Thanksgiving or anytime in between but it looks like I am going to be stuck doing it unless some magic cooking fairy appears to cook it which is not likely to happen.
But, I know that next year I will not make the mistake of ordering anything cooked or uncooked form Safeway grocery store, AKA "My friendly neighborhood Safeway" according to the recording.
