Almost Back To School

I decided to home school my son for a variety of reasons and got constant looks and words of disbelief and wonder. People kept asking me why and my son needs this and that and I politely told them to mind there own business. I chose to home school through an online public school. So far so good. Boxes arrived last week with books for him and teachers guides for me. I get to borrow a computer for home and a printer. We have a teacher for help and classes. We have a meeting scheduled with her next month when school starts.

I have a close friend whom I explained this process to thinking she would have a better understanding. Her kid is grown up and went to what they call a brick and mortier school, a physical building. She looked at me like I was speaking a language she didn't understand and every other sentence she opened up her eyes as wide as she could like she was just amazed at what I was telling her. She seemed interested so I took that as a good sign she was understanding what I had to say. She even nodded  a few times during my little speech. I was secretly high giving myself in my head thinking yes she gets it. I was almost ready to do the happy dance once I finished.

But I had to put my happy dance on hold because after I was finished she gave me a blank stare and said she still thinks its a bad idea. I shook my head and we agreed to disagree and I finished taping the school poster I got at the dollar tree on the wall in our little corner of the house which is now transformed into a small classroom for one. I am happy and he's happy and school starts September 2nd.
