Birthday Party Planner
I knew that this day would come. It took 12 years to come but it finally came. My son wants a birthday party with his friends. The first 11 years of his life he cared less about a party, a big party that is, as long as he had cake, ice cream and a couple of gifts he was good. But, this year he has become more of a social butterfly and everybody knows his name like Norm on the show Cheers. So, of course he needs a party to celebrate him and his day. I should have been more prepared right? I had 11 plus years to be ready for this day. But, needless to say I am not. He and the whole neighborhood is into skateboarding now, the kids, the adults, the grannies and grandpa's all of them. At any given time of the day and sometimes the night you can hear the wheels of many skateboards going up and down the street. Rolling and rolling.
Lately I have heard more skateboards then cars. So, it should have been no surprise that he wants a skateboard party. So, I am now planning or trying to plan in between all the other 900 million things I have to do and plan during the day. I decided that it would be in front of the house that way I can watch the kids and my mom at the same time since she can't travel too much and most of these kids parents have no transportation and my transportation is not big enough to take 12 kids anyplace. So,I am furiously looking on Pinecrest and googling up a storm for ideas for his skateboard party. So far I have found out how to make a skateboard cake if I choose to make one, I am strongly thinking cupcakes though. I don't know if I will have the time to bake and cut cakes on the diagonal to make a cake. I am still on the fence with that one. But, cupcakes are looking better and better. Then comes the part of the decorations. I am thinking simple ones from the dollar store and I am sure that the plates will come from there and the cups and most likely the table cloth which will drape a table, a fold out table, that I put in the garage a few months ago.
The dollar store also has some nice balloons that I can use. And whatever else I will improvise. My son wants to get another ramp which I am pricing on Amazon looking for Prime since this thing has to be here sooner then later and I am discovering that ramps are not cheap. Neither are party favors so I might have to find that at the dollar store too. Next he wants a pinata which my friend so generously offered to buy. Where on Earth I will tied this thing I have no clue. We don't have a backyard and so I am thinking the tree in the front of the house.
So, I have a week or so to figure this all out. He wants it to be close to his birthday which is in 9 days
. I hope I make it.
