Lost in Space Kind Of
My sister and nephew got lost the other day. Sort of. There is a place way in the boonies where they went to get some papers for my mom. I have been to this place and I will admit that once I got to the building I was lost too. I had no idea that I was on the second floor and where I had to go was the first floor. Now, I entered the building from the parking lot and usually when I enter buildings I assume I am on the first floor but not this one. It is a mass of confusion if you never been there before and good luck trying to find someone who knows where you are supposed to be going and can give you directions.
So, through the maze of offices they had a hard time finding the office they needed to go to. She called and I told her where it was all the way at the end after you take the elevator to the first floor because you are on the second floor when you come in. So, finally she found it and since they Ubered there I said well, they are just picking up papers so it should not take too long. So, I get a phone call my sister says that Uber Express cant find them. I said what do you mean they can't find you? She was like well, they can't. We walked to this corner and that corner where they said and the driver calls and says she can't find them. They cancelled twice and I told them look, you have to find a way to get back other than hitchhiking which she probably was tempted to do after waiting out there in the hot sun for over an hour.
I know I would be tempted to find a bus but that would take me longer and probably too much energy and time then I wanted to be bothered with. When I went I got lost coming out of the building also trying to find the right parking lot. I went out the wrong door and wandered around aimlessly wondering why nothing looked familiar. Apparently I was in the parking lot on the first floor and not the second floor. Finally in front of a bank I saw a security guard and asked him. I could tell he was trying not to laugh at me. So, I knew the frustration she was feeling.
Finally, she threw up her hands and gave up on Uber and called Lyft. They faired better with them and finally got back after an hour an a half of trying to get a ride home other then flagging down a bus, train or cab or any vehicle running.
The "day-mare" is not over though because although she does not have to return papers I have to return them next week. Well, at least I will know that the first floor is not the second floor and the office is a mile long at the end of the building. After that walk that is half my exercise for the day.
After she got back we had to laugh about it. Then went to the grocery store. :-)
