Helping Hands
Every now and then we have some money for a treat. That means for my son that is pizza. I always go to papa johns and look at the specials and see if we are close to a free pizza in points. Most of the time we aren't. But, they usually have good specials. So, the other day we got 2 large pizzas. One peperoni for him and one sausage for me and my mom. So, when the pizza came he was outside with his friend. This friend always asks for a piece. My son figured out that he asked for pieces of pizza and bread from the store because he is hungry. My grandmother would always say if you are hungry she will feed you. My grandmother died when my son was only a year old so he never really got to know her but he has a lot of her in him. So, without hesitation my son went inside and gave him two pieces of pizza and soda. He said if he is hungry and I can I will feed him or anyone else who is hungry.
So, they happily ate their slices of pizza and as I was watching out of the window, the window, because God forbid I embarrass him in front of his friends by looking out of the door, lol, I was thinking about my grandmother and how I would have loved him to get to know her better and to actually remember her. He sees her pictures and he asks about her all the time but it is not the same as really knowing someone and spending time with them.
Then I thought maybe she lives in him. She lives in all of our hearts and memories. So, she might be gone but a little piece of her is in him. She is in all of us. So, I can see a lot in him of her and I know that for the rest of his life he will have that kind and thoughtful spirit that she had. He will try to do big things in the world to help others.
