Endless Letters

When we first moved to this not so modern apartment in a not so middle class neighborhood 6 years ago we had a landlord that was only concerned about money, just money. OK, I understand that money is probably a huge part of investment property but I would hope a small part would be to care about the tennants just enough to keep them happy and keep the good ones and the money rolling in. So, for 6 years that wasn't the case. You saw him once a month to collect the rent. If something broke he would assume you broke it. Things you couldn't possibly break like plumbing. He would send someone that was not licensed to do anything to fix something that in the back of his mind was your fault anyway. You shouldn't be washing dishes every day. In spite of the pipes being 50 years old he not so secretly blamed you.

Well, the building was sold a month or so ago to a nameless, faceless owner. I doubt if I will ever see this person for the duration that I am here. Whomever has this property professionally managed. So far I have received 4 letters from them in one or two months. One saying they took over the management, one about the house rules and regulations, one about when rent was due where to send it and yesterday I found another letter taped to the door. I thought I heard tipping toe footsteps creeping up the steps making as little noise as possible almost like I would
Imagine an intruder would do if he or she was going to break in unnoticeable. When I left the house there it was the last letter taped securely to the middle of the door. I almost didn't see it.

Apparently, this person does annual inspections to change smoke detector batteries and basically in my humble opinion to be nosey. Of course according to the letter you don't need to be home but you are welcome to stay. I am cleaning and definitely staying.

In a matter of time I am sure another letter will be taped to something. But, I am hoping to move before long also.
