It's funny how your life can change so quickly. One day you buy a lotto ticket and a day later you are a millionaire. Or you find out you are in great aunt Sadie's will whom you haven't seen since you were ten whose house always smelled like a combination of moth balls and bleach. You find out she left you her statute of her beloved cat Marco. Or you wake up in pain and think its nothing but find out its really something.
I woke up one day to the average type of day. I was looking forward to enjoying a big breakfast since it was my big breakfast day. I had envisioned everyone complimentating me on my declious culinary skills as they savored the apple wood Bacon I cooked to perfection as I drizzled maple syrup on my fluffy pancakes. I had this whole scenario in my head and was looking for my one and only apron when my day changed slowly for the worse.
I really didn't think too much of it at first. My big family breakfast got put on hold since my mom said she was feeling a bit off and felt like resting. I settled for a smaller breakfast and made sure my mom was not feeling worse. For the most part the day was pretty normal. The TV watchers were watching movies and cartoons, the computer was on YouTube where my son was planted watching Naurto. The neighbors across the street were hollering and screaming outside about who did who wrong and on the verge of a street brawl which is pretty much normal for them. Yoshie the next door neighbors dig was barking at the mailman. And he started the drags across the street barking and their doggie mom yelling bfor them to stop.
The parking lot slash play area for some toddlers was full of three toddlers riding on little riding toys and chattering amount themselves as their babysitter stood keeping a watchful eye out for people and potential cars, which aren't many, and know to look for kids during the day. The old handyman, Frank, said the parking lot used to be a play area for kids with swings and slides and toys. Then the building was sold and so went the play area turned into a parking lot that for a slight fee you ate welcome to park there.
The day changed into evening then evening turned turned into night. Then the night turned into a nightmare which ended with a 911 call and my mom being loaded in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. We followed closely behind and sat in an emergency room for hours waiting just waiting. The hardest thing to do in the world for me is waiting for news. The news wasn't good as most news I hear isn't.
On that summer night in August at least 5 lives changed for forever.
