Garage Treasure

The garage is where all the treasures are that just need to get out of the house usually when it gets too overrun by too many empty boxes that I fool myself into thinking I might need someday for something. So, every time the garage opener is in my hand my son gets ready to do the happy dance. He knows lots of treasures that belong to him are packed away down there. Mostly stuff he hasn't seen in years such as toys he outgrew. But, there are two things that he pines for that have taken up residence in the garage. Lately, we haven't had time to do anything but look at them.

Today was too beautiful to just let them collect any more dust. Josh looked at me and I looked at him and no words needed to be exchanged. He ran and grabbed his bike and helmet. He was off riding up and down the block under my watchful eyes in no time at all. Up and down he rode smiling each time he passed me. His eyes lit up like they do on Christmas morning. He rode and rode happily waving to neighbors.

Then he noticed his old spiderman bike. He out grew that one 3-4 summers ago. The tires need air but other then that its still good. He asked me when he saw the little boy across the street can he give it to him. If the little boys mom agrees then I think the spiderman bike has found a new home. I just love his generous spirit.

He asked about the term pay it forward a few weeks ago. I explained the meaning and I think he's paying it forward in his own way. It was a good day today.
