Have We Met?

About two years ago or so I was on this dating site and I ran into someone who apparently knows my whole class from high school and most of them from grammer school too. It is funny that we never met before two years ago. We knew most of the same people and he lived about 4 miles from me for most of his childhood. But, we never met or if we did nobody remembered. So, we were talking about the "Good Ole" days and like I said most of the people that he knows I know but there are some in between that I don't know that he knows so he is like guess who called? and before I can make a guess from the 5000 people that we know he says oh it is so and so and I am like I don't remember so and so and he said oh yes you have to know so and so she is the one with the loud laugh, curly brown hair, 4 brothers, lived on X street and was really tall. I respond with a no don't remember so and so still. I don't think I ever met so and so and he will go on and on about how he and so and so met and how so and so must know me and that the next time he talks to her he will ask. I am thinking ok then. So, after a ten minute conversation about how I should know so and so but don't remember so and so we continue about the good old days that we both know about and we sit and laugh for hours thinking about how back in the day that there was no cell phones, no computers, no nothing but one land line phone for the whole family to use and how when you went to a party you always had someone's mom not only take you to the party and your friends but stayed at the party to make sure that nothing happened that wasn't supposed to happen at the party and then when it was time to go the friend's mom drove everyone home. And my favorite was when you got someone's number that you liked at the party  you would try to go home sneak on the phone and call them and talk until sun up if you could and by the end of the conversation you had found out everything you needed to know about them in your teenage mind and you were now boyfriend and girlfriend in less then 24 hours and on that Saturday you had a movie date with them.

We laughed cause back in the day we would be "going together" as much as we talked. Then another conversation starts on do I know so and so's cousin. I am, like if I don't know so and so how in the world am I going to know their cousin? But, nonetheless he is determined to make me remember so and so and so and so's cousin, the club singer. Then we talk about the clubs that so and so's cousin and so and so's second step mother used to sing at and the name of the group they used to sing with called the Blackberries. I am laughing in my head at all of this and finally I say that this has been the best conversation that I had in a while with someone who knows everyone that I know or knew in some cases.

Sometimes it is just good to talk to someone that you could have possibly knew back in the day but never met but shares most of the same memories except the ones about so and so that you never met.
