Short Books
I was looking through my e-mail today and I subscribe to this book club thing that sends you book titles that are various prices and even some that are free. I tend to click on the free ones and add to the kindle. I don't know how many I have on there but I am pretty sure that it would take me 3 lifetimes to actually read all of them. I tell myself every night before I go to bed that I am going to read a chapter of something before I go to sleep. That rarely happens. By the time the end of the day comes for me all I want to do is go to bed and sleep, or try to sleep. There are rare times when sleep can't find me, but most of the time it can almost before my head hits the pillow. So, needless to say I haven't made a dent in the numerous books I have downloaded. I tried to make a goal of reading at least two books per year. So, far I have read a half chapter of one. I just need about 8 more hours in the day then I would be good, maybe.
My mom got a flyer about a book program for seniors by mail. Apparently, the local library has a new program for seniors who can't get to the library where they will mail you books and then you mail them back to return them. I filled out the form for her about two months ago I think when I first heard about it and then about a month later I got a message from the guy who runs the program about what books my mom likes. I had totally forgotten all about that message until I opened my e-mail and saw all the books I can upload for free and maybe read them before I am 98 years old. So, I asked my mom what kind of books would she like to read. My mom has never really been a book reader, like me. I consider myself or used to consider myself an avid book reader. My mom is more of a person who can take them or leave them and if she can get through a catalog she is good. But, nonetheless, I asked her what kind of books she wanted to read. She said short books. I laughed. That was of no surprise to me. She used to read short books to my son when he was little. She won't read a really long book. Now, what kind of short books they have I don't know. I will have to ask the guy when I call him back probably next week. I hope that my phone saved his number and his message. If not, I will have to call the library and go through I don't know how many people to try to find the guy again and to ask him what short books in large print does he have for seniors. He will probably think that I am nuts. But, what can I say?
One of these days I will get around to reading all of the books that I have downloaded on the kindle. I just hope that some of them are short.
