Music To My Ears!
Over the weekend I hadn't had anything special planned as usual. But, I got something special. I was standing in the kitchen washing dishes before I made dinner and this crow appeared out of nowhere and he sang, or crowed, a nice song for me, I felt like it was just for me as he sat in the tree a few feet from the window. I listened and smiled until the crow flew away. I was sad to see him go. It made the task of washing dishes more enjoyable. So, just as I was trying to figure out what pots I would use to cook what in I heard more music. This time it was coming from a house directly around the corner that I can see the back of from my kitchen window. Usually, I hear no noise or anything from this house. I just assumed that the people who lived there were either older or just quiet or maybe worked more then they were home. So, I was pleasently surprised when I heard some guitar music coming from the backyard and some singing. It sounded to me like jazz singing. I was thrilled that I was about to enjoy a mini concert. I thought that was for me too. Anything to make the tasks I was about to do, cooking, cleaning, etc..more enjoyable. So, I stood there on my tiptoes trying to see better and wishing I was taller. Although, I could see a little of the back porch of the house I really couldn't see anything else. I couldn't see the singer or the other people that were back there. I sort of wished that I could. I wanted to see the face of behind the beautiful voice. But since I couldn't I just enjoyed the music and then I heard clapping. I almost started to clap too. It was that good.
A few minutes later someone else started to play music. This time some drums, guitar and another instrument that I couldn't really identify. But, it all sounded good, great even. They played for about ten minutes and I wished that they could play longer. I was really enjoying this. More clapping and to my surprise another song started playing. This time no music just a person with a big beautiful voice singing. The woman sang her song until it was done and then more clapping. I wanted to give her a standing ovation and sort of did standing in my kitchen smiling. The sounds of laughter and talking then filled the afternoon air over there for about the next 2o minutes or so, just long enough for my rice too cook. Then someone did a toast to all the good people singing and playing the good music and then they all sat down to eat. I am assuming that is what they were doing because I heard glassing clanging and plates being placed on the wooden table. I am just guessing about all of that since I really couldn't see anything more then part of the porch, a couple of trees and a rose bush.
I had the pleasure of listening to the background music playing at dinner over there and it made my dinner great. I have never had background music playing during dinner probably ever. So, it was nice.
I was glad that I didn't have any plans for that day because I would have missed the birds singing and the people singing and that made my Sunday a whole lot nicer. I hope that the people across the fence have another party soon.
