Meals and Smiles Delivered!
My mom loves the fact that she can get meals on wheels delivered to her for lunch. I am thrilled too. Every day except for Wednesday very nice volunteers come to the door and deliver food for lunch and in some cases so much she can have a snack later.
On Monday the volunteer who comes is a tall man with grey hair and is usually clad in white shorts or white jeans. Most of the time he has a bike helmet, he rides a bike, covering his hair and sometimes stands of his hair escape the helmet and fall to the side of his face just above his ears. He has a mole right under his right eyes which are sky blue in color. He always is very polite and nice. Since my mom would take forever to open the door, trying to maneuver the walker and everything to the door, I open the door for him and he always calls me by her name. I find it sort of funny and charming in a way. He always says Hello when I open the door and God bless you when he leaves. Sometimes if he knows he will be back on Thursday or Friday he will say that he will see you then. He gets back on his bike and rides away.
Tuesdays, a group of young adults usually come. They have disabilities but the smile on their faces and the kindness in their hearts just makes me smile every time I see them. They always wish us a nice day also. They don't have name tags usually so I don't know all of their names but I know ones name, Troy, he is so friendly and is always waving and smiling when he comes to the door. He always peeks in and says hello to my mom. She looks forward to waving and smiling back at him. It just makes her day.
Fridays are anyone day to come. Usually new people whom we have never seen before. Last Friday the new person couldn't find the place so I had to stand outside and wave him up the stairs. He said oh is this "Miss Carol's house" Yes, it was. He smiled and came up the steps and said oh he didn't see the address. Not a problem cause about half the people who look for this place can't find it. I am always waving pizza people up, Federal Express people up, UPS people up and sometimes even the mail person if he or she is new. So, I totally understand him not finding the place.
Today nobody is coming so my mom is looking forward to tomorrow. She likes the people almost or more then she loves the food and it is wonderful that she does.
