One Drizzle to Go!

For the past few weeks here it has been raining off and on. Some days it is a little rain that is barely enough to wet the sidewalk and other times it has been a hard rain storm with lots of rain and wind and sometimes even hail and thunder and lightening.

Some days I feel like my like I am caught in a storm and some days it is like a never ending drizzle. It is like when you go outside and it is sunny and then all of a sudden the clouds get dark over your head and then you pull out your umbrella and brace yourself for the rain drops and the umbrella has a hole in it and you get wet anyway. Well, lately no big storms no wind and no hail or thunder and lightening with my life but just little drizzles here and there. Just when I think that the forecast is sunny and mild something happens and the drizzles start.

Before I moved in this apartment years ago the landlord basically moved one person out and I moved in. He was the type that didn't clean the apartment or put new anything in unless he was trying to raise the rent or he was trying to sell the building. More or less you moved in as is. At the time I moved in it was around the holiday times and he was on vacation and the tenants which lived here before they were gong to move because the son of the mother and son team that lived here was graduating from college and moving back to Japan. And the old landlord wanted our old apartment to remodel it in hopes of selling the building or raising the rent for the next person so he said we could move to this one. So, feeling rushed and no other choices we moved in a day from one place to the other.

Two years ago he was going to sell this building and so he had to do something to make it look more presentable so to say so he hired a jack of all trades guy who barely spoke English to put down something that resembled carpet, I say that because it was the cheapest thing that you can find at whatever hardware store they went to. I knew when he came inside with a box that said carpet in a box it was not going to last more then five seconds. Nevertheless he had the guy pound little squares of it on the floor. The guy pounded the carpet on the floor with a hammer and even jumped up and down on it trying to hold it in place. Not a good sign.

Someone brought the building a few months later and needless to say after a couple of years just walking on the floor and vacuuming it every other day the rug or carpet for lack of a better word started unraveling right in front of my eyes. So, upon that happening the management people have to replace it and decided to replace the whole house. The old landlord never did anything in the bedrooms so the carpet in there is old and a different color.

That is the start of my drizzle. Flashes of cheap labor men coming in my apartment speaking Spanish to each other and asking me the best they can if I can move this and that when they put down the new floor in the kitchen has already given me a headache just thinking about it. They probably will go to the hardware store and return with more carpet in the box type of thing and since I have stuff to be moved and they are not professional carpet installers they will want me to do the heavy lifting while they put down the carpet. I am thinking heck I should get paid for my part. lol

The drizzle will turn into a heavy rain when I have to figure out how to move myself, my mom, and my son out of the way and especially my mom. Now, when the first out of the box carpet was installed my mom was in good health. She didn't have the health problems she has now and moving was not a big ordeal. It will be now though. Medications have to be taken during the day and food has to be prepared and eaten at certain times of the day now and  potty breaks for her run every half hour or so. So, as this heavy rain turns into a thunder storm the lightening will come soon.

This weekend I will have to clean out my room and take all the boxes of stuff that is there to the garage. I will try to clear out the closet between now and the time they call to schedule an appointment for these people to come and drag stuff in there to get it out of the way especially things I don't want to get broken like my TV and my son's computer and gaming systems. Too bad my closet is not bigger. lol  I have to do all of this dragging boxes and getting them down the steps to the garage in between my moms needs and that will take some doing. But it can be done. I have done it before, sort of. LOL

I am just amazed on how much stuff that I actually accumulated over the years.Stuff I will probably not look at again if I live to be 107 years old. Stuff that will have to be gotten rid of eventually. But, I am hoping after this storm is over, it is like a storm to me, not a huge one, not one that is serious, not life or death but a storm to me nonetheless, that nothing happens for at least a week later. The sunny weather returns.

So, in the meantime the boxes, the pieces of my former life and just junk await me.
