The Man With The Mustache

One thing I hate about getting older and hope it doesn't happen to me is memory loss. My aunt has it  and when my sister see's her shopping at the dollar store my aunt will ask the same question 5 times and she will admit that she doesn't remember things sometimes. My grandmother had it too. Personally, I am hoping that it skips me. I wouldn't mind if it skipped my generation.

So, sometimes my mom talks about a man sitting on the couch with a mustache. At first I didn't know who she could possibly be talking about and thought that she might have gotten someone on the TV confused with someone that she thinks was sitting on the couch. Or she had a dream. Both of those things have happened before. So, at first I would tell her that there was no man sitting there the night before last, which is always the time frame she says, or last night. She will always ask me where he is. I will quietly explain to her who all was in the house and who all lives here and any visitors that might have been here who are just family most of the time.

Last night she asked about the man with the mustache again. I was about to tell her what I always tell her about there is no man with the mustache that maybe she saw a man on TV or something. Then I realized that maybe she is talking about my nephew. Recently my nephew grew some hair on his lip that I tease him about sometimes and tell him he is trying to grow a mustache. He's in his late 20s but can pass for early 20's and I tease him that he is trying to look older. He laughs and so do I. 

Sometimes he sleeps on the couch and I thought to myself that has to be who she is talking about  because he sits on the couch and sometimes he sleeps on the couch. She probably can't remember his name. Although, when I mentioned to her that it has to be him she told me that was him but I think it is. The only  man with a mustache who is here every day.

I think that the mystery of the man with the mustache is solved. My mom not so much. She still thinks that I have lost it and my nephew looks similar to the man but is not the man. lol
