Cartooning Company

My son has found another favorite cartoon. I knew it would not be long. He finds new favorite shows faster then he can say the ABC's sometimes. And there are so many too choose from. When I was his age I watched Popeye, Scooby Doo, the Flintstones, the Jetsons and a couple more. My favorites were Popeye and the Flintstones. Fred was my favorite Flintstone until he and Wilma had Pebbles. I was only allowed to watch when they came on, the only day they came on, Saturday morning. My mom would frown and find something else to do while my sister and I watched cartoons. She never really appreciated the thrill we got when we heard Fred Flintstone yell yaba Daba Doo! Nor did she like it when my sister and I would yell it in the house while jumping on the bed. We liked jumping on beds.

My son has the privilege of living with his grandmother now. The same woman I grew up with who absolutely would rather have 10 root canals then sit through ten seconds of any cartoon back in the day. So, I was literally shocked yesterday morning when I walked into the living room and saw and heard a cartoon on my mom's television.

I thought maybe she was sick. Possibly a high fever. Or memory loss. Something was wrong with the picture of my mom sitting calmly watching a cartoon with her youngest grandson. I nearly fainted. There they were. Josh  him sitting on the rug in front of where she was sitting on her bed. He was eating some peaches and she was eating her usual peanut butter toast and juice.

Josh was also decked out in his homemade Naruto Shippuden, the name of the cartoon, headband. When he watches a new favorite cartoon dressing the part is a must.

After about an hour of cartoon watching grandmother said something to Josh that surprised me. She said to him that she enjoyed the cartoon. He just nodded and said he did too and explained to her her how to get cartoon network on the TV in case she wanted to watch them by herself sometimes. I think it wasn't the cartoon that she enjoyed as much as the company.
