Everyday hero
Some days I just wish I had a superhero to come to my house and whisk me away from all my daily stresses and problems. I feel blessed for all that I do have. My health, family and a couple of friends who listen to me when I need them and help me when the can. But sometimes in the middle of making a list for the grocery store or making my tenth call of the day trying to find a new place to live or making a call for my mom about whatever she needs at the time which can not wait a second past noon, I then daydream while on hold usually of Batman driving up in the bat mobile and tooting the bat horn, I don't know if it has a bat horn but in my fantasy, it does.
So, Batman comes up and he says in his deep batman voice only two words, "Let's go." So, I would race to the car and off we would go. We would just drive. Destinations unknown. Wind blowing a gentle breeze through the open windows. We would not talk just ride. Ride throughout the hills, mountains, and valleys even cities. I would forget about lists and phone calls and every other task of the day. Of course, he would take me for a ice cream Sunday with lots and lots of whipped cream and two cherries.
So of course my little fantasy lasts just as long as the hold time. And of course reality smacks me in the ear from the phone and I am hurled back to reality explaining the make up of my family which by their definition is far from being traditional.
Just another day in a life. Another day when I could use batman, superman even spider man. Spiderman and I would fly across the city together while he's slinging his web shooting webs from his hands sticking to buildings and houses like in the cartoons I watch with my son on any given weeknight.
So, since I don't have a real superhero I guess I have to get out my wonder woman cape and climb aboard my invisible plane and pretend I am flying to my invisible island while taking phone calls from very important folks.
