Another Manic Monday...
I really didn't think that this Monday would differ too much from the other Manic Monday's around here with the exception that my mom is not here. It is too quiet sometimes without her here and I do miss her terribly. But, I was thinking okay, this should be a pretty good day. My son is starting back to school after a break and I was eager to get started and get back to a normal routine with him. He had other ideas however. The morning was a mix of raised voices, mainly mine, eyes rolling, mainly mine, stern voices, mainly mine, and not wanting to do too much of anything pertaining to reading or writing, mainly my son. After a reasonable amount of time not getting done what I wanted to get done with him as much as I wanted to get done I put the books away and ordered pizza for lunch. After lunch we got a bit more done with less eye rolling and raised voices. It was actually pleasant for the next few hours. He did what he needed to do and we both got to eat pizza.
My mom is in the nursing home getting rehabilitation for a couple of weeks so the social worker called me this morning. I missed the call. I hate cell phones, or my cell phone which sometimes I hear and sometimes I don't meaning sometimes it rings on the volume I put it on and sometimes not. So, my son told me that I had missed a call and I called back and back and back. First I was told I had the wrong facility I was calling the one in a different city. I said well, I am calling the number that called me. She tried to transfer me to the "right" one and after I listened to elevator music for ten minutes on hold I hung up and redialed. This time I didn't push 0 for the operator I pushed 6 for the social worker. First I got what I thought was the beginning of a voice mail message. It was weird it said you have reached blah, blah and then blah blah came on the phone. I was like hello? Is this blah, blah? Well, it was and he told me that he needs to meet with me for a plan for my mom. He could have told me this when I was there. But, nope it never works out that way. As soon as you leave you get a call. I had planned to go up there after lunch since their preferred visiting hours are from noon-8pm. But, I go whenever I want to basically and have no problems. So, tomorrow right before lunch I have a meeting with him at the facility. Since there is a hamburger place behind the place, directly behind the place so close you can smell the food and then another place across the street we will probably get lunch after the meeting. Of course I know someone will be hungry and that someone will probaby include me.
The plan for me is to get her out of there in 2 weeks and not have it drag out to three weeks or longer. This is not our first rodeo with this and what they say and what actually happens is usually 2 different things. So, the sooner the better for all of us.
