Perfect Winter Day
From time to time I see some "colorful" people and things on my short walks in the neighborhood. I had to go to the corner store earlier today to get something to cook with my baked chicken. It was like I had stuff but nothing that would go with anything so I decided to take that short walk. Actually, I don't mind going there so much now because of the variety of things that they now offer. I can get fresh vegetables and fruit there now and a lot of other things that weren't available before they opened and re-opened again. So, on the way I pass this older man, I would say in his late 60's or early 70's parked in a SUV type car and had his radio blasting. I could hear it half way down the block. I thought it was some youngsters at first until I got closer. He was playing a song from the late 80's or early 90's. I was surprised to see a senior citizen jamming to that song and on his cell phone. I was thinking that whomever he is talking to probably can't hear him over his music. I could still hear it when I got inside the store and then a few minutes later it stopped so I guess that is when he left.
Inside the store was this young lady around 20 something and she had on a coat that reminded me of the coat of many colors in the Dolly Parton movie. It was colorful and she had on a light brown scarf and a darker brown knit cap to match the scarf. She was wondering around the store just looking at all the shelves and then she asked the owner of the store did he have any grapes. He had everything else but not grapes. He told her that she is not the only person looking for grapes and he may add them to the inventory. With that she smiled and walked out of the store.
As I was loading my stuff on the counter this woman about my age walked in talking or I should say yelling on her cell phone either the person couldn't hear well or she was mad at the person on the other end. I couldn't tell. But, she continued the conversation while she shopped and when I was leaving she was still talking but in a lowered voice.
My son went with me along with his friend who is the cousin of the kid that lives across the street. He the cousin doesn't live in the neighborhood he comes over on the weekend sometimes with his mom and he and my son play together. So, today they were playing basketball, their version of basketball, which is unlike any version I have ever saw. And so they took the ball to the store and though that it was a good idea to bounce the ball inside the store. I gave my son the "look" and he immediately told his friend that they need to go outside.
It was quite the day for a walk and not too cold and not too hot kind of the perfect the winter day.
