Fancy

On a short walk today I noticed something different around the neighborhood. When I first moved to this side of the city there was  small store located on a small corner and during that time it was run by a husband and a wife team who had been running the store for about 30 years and they decided to retire, sell the store and move out of state. The store was brought along with the house that the couple had around the corner. The store was changed from top to bottom. The inventory changed from stuff that you would see at any mom and pop store across the country stuff like soda, beer, chips, candy, ice cream, milk, eggs and a few other things that you may need if you are making dinner or want a snack. But, nothing that was what I would call "health foods" by any means. Not until the new people took over. They brought in all kinds of whole wheat breads, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, frozen vegetables, whole grain pastas, brown rice, and even glutton free foods along with organic. They still have the usual chips and soda and beer but there is a more of a variety of foods now. They even put in coffee and pastry for the mornings when you are on the run and need some coffee and perhaps a donut or two. Because there are just some mornings when only a hot cup of coffee being washed down by a jelly filled donut will do while you are on your way to do what you need to do to start your day.

Today, as I was passing by debating if I wanted to go and get a donut or not I noticed that outside they had something new. A couple of tables and chairs sitting on the side of the store near the door. I said to myself they are trying to be fancy. Although, I don't know who would actually sit there and sip coffee or eat jelly filled donuts or enjoy one of the many sandwiches they now offer. It's not really that type of neighborhood for the most part. People run in and out of that store carrying things that they need for dinner or lunch or just crave and are always in a hurry. I tried to picture myself sitting there and sipping on hot chocolate or coffee eating a jelly donut or two but for now I don't see myself doing that. But, who knows? Maybe next week or next month I might be doing it watching the traffic go by, what little there is until the kids get out of school and the pick up's begin. It is a nice idea though and maybe one day I will see someone sitting there enjoying the sunshine sipping on hot coffee reading a book. (if anyone reads anything anymore besides lap tops, tablets, phones, etc...) I always been a book girl myself  because I like to turn the pages and have a physical book in my hand, love the feel of that.

But, we will see who will sit and how long they will be sitting.
