Sunday Sillyness

Sunday mornings I usually like to take it easy. I don't have to wake up early and I get to watch my oldie shows in the morning and can just be. Just be in my room for a while. I don't have to run and make breakfast for anyone early in the morning. Just a morning to relax and do what I want to do for a little while. Usually it is quiet in the house and the neighborhood. I said usually. Not the case this Sunday morning.

I heard loud voices coming from across the street. It was a familiar voice the same voice who always yells and screams and hollers at any given time any given day at anyone that happens to piss her off for that moment in time. All I heard was curse word after curse word and yelling of who did what to who and when, how and where. I braced myself for a not so quiet Sunday. But, I tried to ignore the drama across the street and focus on my day. So, I wrote some, checked some e-mails, watched my son sleep, watched a few episodes of the Golden Girls and took my time getting dressed. It was my time. The only day out of the week where it is slow paced, somewhat. I was in no hurry to even move out of my room. I even cleaned it a little and have a lot more to go. Mostly sorting toys and clothes and getting rid of it to goodwill. Stuff that is too small, way too big, not worn, not played with anymore and is just sitting there that someone else could enjoy. If this was a neighborhood where they had garage sells I would do that but I doubt that anyone would be interested. I remember when we first moved here, around the corner, they had a block party and a garage sale. Well, let's just say that was the first and last year that happened. The first annual block party turned into the last annual block party.

But, I did get a floor puzzle and a mirror for $2 so I was happy. I kind of wish they would do it again but I don't think that they will it has been about 8 years since that happened. My son was just about 4 then or so. My mom was in better health and walking and being sassy and telling everyone what to do back then and it was her way or the highway. (LOL) Things seemed back like we had down graded or sort of come down a lot and we had. But, we survived. We might have been down but not out.

I was sitting at the computer just writing my children's book and watching the Golden Girls at the same time. For some reason it was relaxing watching them and writing. I smelled turkey bacon cooking from the kitchen, my nephew has given up pork for lint, so he was cooking that and making pancakes for breakfast for him and my mom. I heard him and her talking about some sports program on the TV and then I knew it was a matter of time before I knew she would look around and notice the noticeable that I was not in the room. So, about an hour after she ate breakfast she asked my nephew where I was. He said in the room.  I watched two more episodes of the Golden Girls and then my stomach started growling and the computer needed charging so I got myself together and came in the living room said good afternoon to her because by that time it was afternoon.

Brunch was done and the screaming across the street was done and I was glad. It rained later that afternoon and I went out on the porch just for a moment to feel it on my face. It was kind of silly but at the time I just felt like being silly.
Silly on a Sunday Afternoon.
