Robot Racing
We like to do crafts sometimes' my son and I that is and he is the type of kid who can turn a paper bag into a whole pirates costume. Boxes have turned into ships, sailboats' wrestling rings for action figures' and even tables and drums.
So it didn't surprise me after watching an episode of Curious George where George made a robot my son Josh ,decided he wanted to make not one but two robots. I asked him why two and he gave me the "parents just don't understand" look then he politely said that he had to make a boy and girl robot so they wouldn't be lonely.
So the hunt for supplies began. We had tons of boxes leftover from Christmas. Everyone who sent gifts this or last Christmas I should say ordered online thus we have tons of boxes for projects such as robot building.
All we needed was a couple of boxes some aluminum foil and a few other creative things for eyes, noses and mouths. After the supplies were collected and the kitchen table also known as the crafting table, was cleared of bottles, paints, and paintbrushes from an earlier project we were ready. I got the task of helping make the girl robot because well, I am a girl and would be better at making her according to Josh. I just nodded and tore off a few pieces of foil to cover the round disc which formally belonged to a popcorn tin's lid. The popcorn was gone so of course the lid made a perfect head for for for one robot. The box was the body and corn dog sticks were perfect for arms for both robots.
A few stickers for the eyes and noses and one empty toilet paper roll later plus lots of foil and a tiny toy skateboard from one of the many happy meal toys later we were done. The little skateboards were the wheels because what good is a robot if you can't roll him and her in a race across the kitchen floor?
Josh looked proudly at his creations and couldn't wait to start the epic robot race. And neither could I.
