DMV Circus

Going bto the DMV can sort of be like going to a 3 ring circus sometimes. I dislike going there with a passion. But, unfortunately, I had no choice since my wallet went missing with my ID in it I had to get another. I scheduled my appointment online to try to make it as painless as possible. The day came. I drug myself out of bed totally not looking forward to going. My nephew offered to give me a ride. I cheerfully accepted and when he pulled the car out from the garage I hopped in the back seat. Not because I wanted to pretend to be a rock star driven around because the seatbelt in the passengers seat in the front seat is crappy and takes a zillion years to put on. You have to pull and open the door, close the door, and pull again and again. So, I decided to save time and my energy and got in the back seat.

Twenty minutes later we arrived. My nephew the parking procrastinationator drove two laps around the parking lot before he decided to park about twenty steps away from the front door. He was making me want to tell him to drop me off in front and then he could take his laps around the lot. To my amazement there weren't too many cars  in the lot. Which apparently wasn't the case once inside.

Once inside  I got in the 3 person appointment line. I was glad and the line seemed to be moving quickly. So far so good. I took a seat and waited for my number to be called. Then I heard it. I looked up in the direction of where I heard it. Standing at a window about 30 feet away was a loud booming voice coming out of a short man. He was yelling and the woman at the window who was helping him wasn't. She asked him not to yell. He continued to yell and pull out some papers from a manilla envelope. After a few more minutes of yelling the woman decides to get supervisor. During all the shouts the security guard stayed posted near the door. Another customer dressed in a security guard uniform asked the security guard posted there if he was going to the to the shouting man, who now sort of calmed down, he slowly walked over near the counter and the yeller looked up and asked why he was there and the volume of his voice should not matter.

Meanwhile at another window not far a baby was screaming while her mom was talking or trying to talk to another woman behind the window.  And around from that window an older man was arguing with his wife when she declared that her hair was a mess and she needed him to run to the car to get her brush. He said it wasn't a group picture her hair didn't matter. She chuckled and he pulled out his book and read while she found the picture takino window.

Finally, my number was called. I went to the window and paid and 5 minutes later I was on my way to the picture taking too. Only one problem nobody was there to take the pictures. So, after a quick complaint from the guy in front of the line the woman working one window over and started taking pictures and we were all smiles. Partly because she told everyone to smile. One smile later I was out the door finally and back in the back seat of the car.

A stop at the grocery store, I figured since I was out anyway, might as well pick up a few things, another stop for food for lunch and we were back. Back to where I started which was a lot quieter then the DMV. At least for now. :-)
