Night Owls

I think that I am related to a bunch of night owls. I like to go to bed at certain time and get my 8-10 hours of sleep. OK, I like sleep probably because it is a luxury I  have been missing for years. But, I do like to get more then a few hours per night unlike the people in my family.

Last night my mom was up and down most of the night or I should say the wee hours in the morning since her up and down started around 1 am and didn't end until about five hours later. So, since she was up going back and forth to the bathroom mainly that met I was up too whether I wanted to be or not. I had to keep an ear open and an eye open in case she needed help. The squeaking of the walker is no joke. It is loud and especially in the quiet of the night it seems louder. So, I was not surprised when at 2:45 am my son woke up. He heard my mom going to the bathroom and immediately jumped out of bed to see if she was okay. She was. Instead of going back to sleep he decided that it was the right time to talk to me about every thing he could think of. About 30 min later he was all talked out and my eyes were heavier then a ten pound sack of potatoes.

My mom was tucked back in bed and I thought that everyone would resume their sleeping positions in their beds and the snoring would soon start. They did go back to sleep eventually but not as soon as they should have. My mom made a few more trips to the bathroom and my son made the same trips to check on her and report back to me that things were okay. At around 5 or 6 am all was quiet again. The bathroom trips ceased for everyone and the sun was on the verge of coming up again. I think I was the first one to go back to sleep then my mom and my son and my mom was the first one to wake up. My nephew made her breakfast while I slept and then went to work and I had to get up before he left. I think that both my mom and I slept in the lazy boy recliners (or lazy boy like recliners since they aren't really lazy boy's) for most of the day. All I know I closed my eyes for a minute watching one episode of The Golden Girls on TV and when I opened them again it was 3 episodes later and my mom was still asleep.

Tonight I hope to go to bed earlier and I am hoping that everyone stays asleep until after 9 am on a Sunday morning. I want to have a easy Sunday morning like in the song.
