The Mr. Crabs Laugh

My son was outside playing "soccer" with the neighbor kids from across the street. I should say their version of soccer since I have never seen the game payed quite in the way they are playing. But, as long as they are having fun and not arguing about where to kick the ball and who to kick it too then it is all good.

So, as I am listening to the ball bang against the fence which is where the goal is and where the goalie is supposed to stand and block the ball I hear the voices of all three of the players, my son, and the two kids from across the street and one says that he almost slipped on the leaves. There are a few leaves that fell from the tree that is right in front of the house which have been wind blown by the fence they are playing by. So, the other kid kind of chuckles. Not really a laugh but a little chuckle, like I saw you but don't want you to know that I think you almost falling was funny. I didn't think that anyone heard it but me. So, the game continued and ball bounced here and there and everywhere and the same kid almost fell again. He announces it when he almost falls. This time the chuckle laughed a little louder, a louder chuckle which was ignored until the inevitable happened the kid who almost fell twice did fall once but was not hurt thankfully. And of course the one who chuckles let out a big laugh like it was the funniest thing he had ever saw. My son asked the kid who fell was he OK and he said that he was as he dusted himself off. Then he looked at the kid who laughed and asked him what was so funny.

Still laughing and in between laughs he says that he always laughs when someone falls or is about to fall. That did it for the kid who fell he told him that was not right and that he shouldn't do that and besides he sounds like Mr. Crabs from Sponge bob when he laughs and so there. The kid looked at him like "What?" and so the kid did the "Mr. Crabs laugh" and told him that is how he sounds. The kid who laughed just laughed again and said well, at least they all don't live in pineapples under the sea.

Now that made me laugh. A real good belly laugh!
