Deep Chair Sitting

There is this commerical on TV for swiffer where they have this father and son and his son is young and likes to have friends over and his dad says that there is no deep couch sitting that you are always on the edge of your seat. I was thinking about that today because it was one of those days for my mom and that means it is one of those days for me too. The mornings are not so bad. I help her with what she needs to do to start off her day and we sit and relax for a bit and talk. It's all good until around noon. Lunch time is the start of no deep chair sitting for me. I sit in a reclining chair most of the time right across from my mom sort of.  So, after lunch  and the lunch time medications it all goes down hill from there or it went downhill today. The side effects of the medications were really bad for her today and the talk with her doctor yesterday didn't do much good except he is sending her for a round of more tests which is not going to like very much. So, until then we are stuck with 6 meds
a day and 7 if you include the occasional Tylenol. I know that it is not as many as some people take but from her going from no medicines for over 70 years to 6 in two years it is a lot for her.

For most of the afternoon after lunch and a couple of snacks in between lunch and dinner I am up and down helping her up and down from the other reclining chair to the bed and back again. Sometimes I think it is a mute point to make up her bed in the mornings because she is back and forth all afternoon and me putting covers up and down and down and up. She always tells me that she doesn't want to be a bother and I always tell her she's not. She's my mom and I would do anything for her including no deep chair sitting and that makes her laugh.

Right now she is finally getting some much needed sleep and I am deep chair sitting until I get up to cook dinner. Which will probably be breakfast for dinner. I have been getting away with breakfast for dinner a lot lately because of a fall she had in the doctors waiting room and she hurt her lip which had to have 3 stitches. The doctor had called almost everyday to check on her. My mom just lost her footing and down she went. Thankfully it was only the lip that got "busted" and everything else was okay. Three doctors told us in the office and one in the emergency room who did the CT scan just to make sure.  Usually, my mom will fuss about having eggs and grits for dinner because that is strictly for breakfast. I never understood that and when I was living on my own, when I was in college, many years ago, I always had breakfast for dinner. But, my mom is old school and breakfast if for breakfast. But, since she can only eat softer foods for a while, I think I can milk this for another week, the breakfast for dinner thing, she hasn't complained about the scrambled eggs for dinner and the oatmeal for breakfast. My son hasn't complained either. Although, he never really does cause he will take a pancake or waffle or eggs anytime of the day. He's like me.

So, I am going to enjoy my deep chair sitting while it lasts.
