Stepping into Halloween
Honestly, I was not looking forward to trick or treating this year with my son. Don't get me wrong I love trick or treating with him but for the past few years we have lived in a neighborhood that is not that into Halloween at least on this block. Usually we take a ride back to the old neighborhood to trick or treat but this year given that fact that my mom is sick and we didn't really want to be gone too long we both decided it was best to stay in the "hood" this year. Neither of us had high hopes for buckets full of candy or seeing too many trick or treaters but off we went at the crack of 6:30. My son dressed in his spider man costume and me adorned in my spider man shirt we decided on our plan of action. My son had saw some decorated houses a couple of days ago that were near so we decided to hit those first. There is this house across the street around the corner who always hands out candy and the good candy and he lets you choose your candy, the best part. We started there. Then a little haunted apartment was our next stop with Minnie Mouse handing out candy. Guess it wasn't too haunted. Next we decided to go to the houses near the school a few blocks away. There almost every house had lights on and pumpkins on the porch. We both were happy campers when we saw that. It was like a Halloween wonderland. His Halloween bucket filled up faster than fast. In a little less then an hour he had all kinds of candy, cookies, pencils, crackers, etc... He was so happy I think he thanked each person twice.
On the way home we saw the kids who live across the street and they had so many adults with them they looked like they had a fan club with them. I think it was more adults then kids. They all spoke in passing and we headed back to our house where we had left candy to give out. My brother was going to pass it out if we got any trick or treaters. I was doubtful about that too but I was very surprised when I looked in the candy bucket and found only a few lonely pieces left. My brother said that there were about 6 groups of kids in groups of about 3-4 each that came. Shortly after we returned a kid came to the door.
I guess we stepped out of or in our case into our comfort zone this Halloween. We stayed exactly where we were supposed to stay. And it was fun.
