Pizza Pizza!

The other day I asked my mom if she wanted pizza for dinner since I was not really in the mood to cook and we hadn't had it for a while. She got excited and said yes, she would love to have some pizza. So, when the pizza delivery guy showed up and knocked on the door my mom's eyes lit up. She loves pizza just as much as I do. But, she was also in for a surprise. She would rather eat nails sometimes then what she calls "rabbit food" which is tomatoes, lettuce, onions, etc..I put her piece on a plate and just waited for her response. She looked at the lonely piece of pizza on her plate and she did a double take. She told my son something is not right and he looked and asked her what it was. She looked again and said wait there was no meats. She was absolutely right. I got vegetarian pizza with extra tomatoes. Her potassium was down the last time she went to the doctor and so  in addition to her new potassium pill the doctor told her she had to eat more of what she doesn't like. She looked at me and asked about the meats. I said I didn't get any meats this time.  I told her they had a special on veggie pizzas so I thought that we could try it out. I took a bite of mine and told her it was pretty good.

Reluctantly, she took a bit of hers and although she will never admit it I think she liked it. She had two pieces and said that it wasn't bad and was an okay change. I got her to eat her veggies in a sneaky way that day. She reminds me of my sister's step grand daughter who just turned one with a two year old attitude. She doesn't like too much of anything especially the "green" foods. If you put something green to her mouth she shakes her head no and tightens her lips. When I see her do that I think of my mom. I know if my mom had her way she would tighten her lips too when she saw anything that was not what she wanted to eat.

I think that the next time I get pizza it just might be the "veggie special" again.
