Balls Multiplied
My living room is filling up fast with all kinds of soccer balls, or as my son calls them, footballs. They have multiplied from one ball to several in the past few days. That prompted me to ask him where they all came from and why are they all in the house trying to "hide" in a corner of the room. He said matter of factly, that his friend around the corner who nickname is "Mango Chutney" gave him all the balls that he didn't want anymore so my son volunteered to take them home. Ok so that answered one question but that leads to the next question of why they are in the house "hiding" in the corner of the room.
The answer to that was that he didn't know where else to put them and he didn't think that I would notice or mind. Well, I did notice that is for sure. So, along with the millions of balls there was also something else in the corner, a soccer net. I didn't have to ask where it came from since I guessed that it came from the same place along with the shoes that are too small for his feet but that didn't stop him from trying to squeeze his foot in a shoe two sizes too small. He even tried without socks in the hopes that would "shrink" his foot. Needless to say it didn't work so he passed the shoes on to a boy who can fit them and was happy to get them.
I was debating on telling him to take the balls to the garage or making a better space for them in here. I was thinking how much the noise of opening and closing the garage door would irritate me especially on the weekends when school is out and there are 10 kids out kicking soccer balls and laughing, screaming and arguing about who kicked what where. That noise enough is to wake up the dead in three counties. The garage door is a special kind of noise. It sounds like a mini earthquake and shakes the living room and when it opens and closes the noise can be very irritating. So, to save my ears from the noise of opening and closing the garage 10 times per day which I know will happen because when you start something like that then there are going to be 10 more things that they will want to play with that doesn't involve soccer and just for the "fun" of it that garage will open and close more times then my ears can take. It is like that book, "If you give a Mouse a Cookie" lol
So, the balls will stay for a while. For as long as I can stand it. They can "hide" in the corner and go outside during play time. Just for now.
