Memories of Rainy Days

It is raining today. Sometimes on rainy days they remind me of one house that I used to live in. In my life I have only lived in two houses, not apartments, not duplex's but houses, single family houses. One of those times was when I was 25 when I had just move out of my mom's house for the first time. It was a house with two bedrooms near a park with tennis courts and a little league baseball field on one side and on the other side swings and slides and a basketball court with a recreation room near by. Next to the park was a church of all things. So, on Sunday mornings there would be no parking on my block and you would hear the sounds of music from the church and sometimes the preacher preaching and lots of "Amen's" from the church people. I even through in a couple of own Amen's at times when I could hear some of the sermon.

After work on rainy days I couldn't wait to get home. I didn't even care that I had to take the bus with all the umbrellas, dripping water from the umbrellas, wet people, grouchy people cause it was raining, and all the wet smells the filled the air on the bus ride home. All I wanted to do was go home and see my dog, change clothes, and sit and relax with a hot cup of tea or hot coco. I would listen to the rain drops hitting the windows or the roof for a long time and think how blessed I was to live in that house two houses from the corner. I even had a washer which I thought was so cool since I never had one before in any house I lived in except once.  The backyard was my favorite too. But, on rainy days me and my dog would go outside and she would do her business and we would just hang out a little bit afterwards and let the rain drops fall on us just enjoying it. She liked the rain as much as I did if not more.

Those were what I call the "good ole days." I know that those days will never return. I don't know if I will ever enjoy the rain as much as I did when I lived there with my dog but I sure enjoy the memories.
