Christmas Cheer Curbside
I had a bright idea today that me and my mom could take a nice little walk to the corner store. I needed to get a couple of items for dinner and I hadn't been able to go grocery shopping properly yet. The corner store re-opened a couple of weeks ago or so and they remodeled it and changed it for the better. They have more veggies, fruits and less junk food then they did before. It is like a small grocery store now. So, I wanted my mom to see it but sometimes she doesn't go along with my bright ideas. She wasn't really wanting to walk down the stairs today. But, with her it is struggle to get her to want to walk down them any day. One of the side affects of one of her medications is anxiety and the thought of her going down the stairs gives that to her. I was hoping that today would be a good day. But, she didn't want to go so I told my brother I was going out for a few minutes to keep an eye out for her. And me and my son went to the store.
There is this house that is right next door to the store that is always decorated for the holidays and I mean any holiday on the calendar. So, it was no surprise that they had decorations out for Christmas. They have an iron gate that you can see into it but you would have to buzz to get inside of it to the house. They had snowman out and some other decorations along with a wreath and lights running the length of the fence. And on the curb in front of their house they did something a little different, at least something that I had never seen them do before. They put some decorations on the little shurbbery by the curb. I call it a little Christmas cheer by the curb. It was nice and different. We saw a lot of DIY wreaths hanging from doors and gates and more holiday decorations that adorned front lawns and doorsteps. It looks like people around here got more festive then years past. It was nice. My son wanted to make a wreath like the one we saw on this door that was made with Christmas ornaments. I was going to try to get a picture until the dog started barking at me and that bark told me that it was a big possibly mean dog so we just walked on by quickly. When I see that neighbor, who gives us plums from his tree in the summer, I will ask him about the pretty decorations on his porch.
When I got back a few minutes later I told my mom about all the decorations we saw hoping that would influence her into wanting to come with us next time but she only shrugged and said she has a nice tree here to look at. We laughed and that was the end of that for now anyway.
