Laughter
There is always a time of the day or early evening when my mom sits and makes the "face" Usually around 7 pm or shortly before the "face" surfaces and doesn't go away until she falls asleep. The face I am talking about is like the face you would make if you ate some sour candy or something too sweet or too bitter. It's a face that means something in your world is just yucky and you don't know where the yucky is but wish that it would just go away. When she makes this certain face, she makes a lot of faces, I know it is the time of the evening where resting is going to be hard for her. She will become restless and to help I will make some tea for her to drink if she wants it. Sometimes she does and sometimes she doesn't. But, the times she does it soothes her and she rests better. If not tea then sometimes some warm milk. I remember when I was little she used to give me warm chocolate milk. She gave us all that, my sister, brother and myself. To this day my brother still drinks warm chocolate milk before he goes to bed.
I am glad I only see the "face" once a day. I used to see the "face" more a few months ago but now it only appears once a day usually. I don't like this face. I like the smiling face and I miss the smiling face. I guess that is why I try to tell her corny jokes during the day so I can see the smiling face. The face I am used to seeing and don't see enough of lately. I tell the corny jokes or make some joke out of what we are watching on TV and she laughs and laughs and sometimes she laughs so hard she tells me that her cheeks from laughing so hard. Now, those belly laughs, the ones that make your cheek hurt, those laughs are the ones and the face I hope to see more of.
Now, it is tea time and maybe a corny joke time also. After all, they say laughter is the best medicine right?
