Small and Beautiful
My mom gets meals on wheels delivered almost everyday. Most days I answer the door because by the time she could get to the door they probably would be gone. Ok, she is not that slow but slow enough. When we get older sometimes age slows us down just a tad. Sometimes young adults volunteer and they deliver the meals. It is interesting that when they come they always look around me sort of to see the little tree we have. If you open the door you can see it somewhat. It is a corner of the room because that is the only spot for it this year. I used to like it how my grandmother used to put her giant trees in the window. We did that too when we lived in her house for a couple of years before it was sold. She had a nice big house. So, every time the young adults have saw the tree they compliment it and then they say Merry Christmas! I actually enjoy that and so does my mom. They are full of the holiday spirit that is for sure.
For a little tree it sure has got a lot of attention. Well, a lot of attention from the meals on wheels people at least. I thought about getting a bigger tree this year and putting the little one that is in here up too but possible in my room. Now, I am glad that I didn't. First of all it was a pipe dream thinking that I had room for a big tree. But, I was looking at a catalog, one of the many we have gotten since the Christmas season started back before Thanksgiving. And I saw a few trees that said perfect for apartments, fits in a corner, blah, blah, blah. I was thinking for a split second I need one. But, then reality kicked back in and I realized that right now I don't need anything but the what I already had.
There is nothing like turning off all the lights at night and just sit and look at the little tree in the corner of the room with the four gifts sitting under it wrapped in star wars wrapping paper. Tis the season.
