Christmas Joy
Yesterday was Black Friday. Usually on Black Friday I am at home eating left over turkey from Thursday's Thanksgiving. But, this year my son got his some birthday money early from his uncle so after many minutes of begging which seemed more like hours, I decided to take him to his other favorite store, Target. I wasn't looking forward to the traffic or the tons of people I had anticipated being there. I had imagined crowds and crowds of people grabbing for 50% off televisions and us running for our lives after getting the last 60% off Spiderman toy off the shelf. But, to my surprise the traffic was not bad when my nephew drove us there. The store was not too crowded at all. The toy department was almost empty of people and the Spiderman toys were all on the shelf for 10% off. Probably why they were still on the shelf. So, after what took like forever for my son to pick out two toys we headed to the escalators the elevator because the moving stairs going down were going too fast for his liking even after I told him I would hold his hand going down he looked horrified and ran to the nearest elevator. So, the elevator it was.
The lines were not bad at all. There was only one person in front of us in line, although she had a thousand shirts it still moved pretty fast.
Out the door we went with two Spiderman toys in record time for a Black Friday.
Of course he couldn't wait to run up the stairs once we got home and show grandma his loot. She wasn't too thrilled that he chose the Spiderman web shooter as one of his toys but what is Christmas and birthdays for if you can't have a little fun?
I told my mom I had to get the tree from downstairs. She looked at me like I was speaking another language and then she said not a real tree? I said no of course not. I was talking about the little 4ft tree that we got when my son was around 4 at the craft store for 50% off. The little artificial tree I got that year because going to the tree lots with my mom was not fun. She took so long looking at trees and then pricing trees and then telling the tree lot people how the trees were just too expensive. We must have went to 4 tree lots that year and it was making everyone including her miserable so we piled back in the car and went on a search for an artificial one. Until that year we had never had an artificial one. But, it sure did make life a lot easier.
Now, my son is taller then tree but he really didn't mind because it made it easier for him to put the star on the top. Our little tree is sitting in a corner of the little living room now all decorated and waiting for Santa. We have only began to deck the halls. We still have the doors and windows to do. Sounds like we will be making a trip to the dollar store very soon for decorations. I can't wait to see my mom's face when we are done. But, after all if you can't have a little fun on Christmas then when can you when you are 8?
