The Grinch After Halloween

Everyone has someone in their family who just hates everything basically. They hate holidays especially. So, I knew that a matter of time my special holiday Grinch would be over. That day was today.
I was getting ready to go to the grocery store and do a few errands before the weekend before every place got crowded with people thinking the same thing as me, beat the crowd. So, I grabbed a light jacket since it was a warm, very warm fall day after Halloween here. No sooner then I grabbed my jacket and put my hand on the doorknob to open the door there she was. Standing right there on my porch just about to knock on the door. Standing there in her black pants pull on stretch pants and her gold shirt on tilting her head to the side at a 10 degree angle as she sometimes does and then puts that look of confusion on her face. She always looks confused about something and I can never tell what.

I was sort of startled to see her when I opened the door and she was startled as well because she hadn't knocked yet. Then she started. She took another look at the still decorated door from Halloween which was barely over, and she turned to around to look at the carved pumpkins on the porch and made a face like she had tasted something sour and the first words came out off of her lip glossed lips. "Why do you STILL have Halloween decorations up. You do know that Halloween is over right?"
I just stood there for a second and almost didn't comment because she already knew that I knew that Halloween was over. So, I told her that I just didn't have the chance to take them down yet. It wasn't a big deal I can do it when I came back.  That didn't really help matters any. She didn't like that answer and she pushed the door open more, almost knocking me down and then she proceeded to unstick the ghosts and witches and pumpkins that were taped and stuck to the door.  She had  most of the decorations down in a few minutes. All the while mumbling that she didn't see why people took the time to put them up just for one night.

I just stood back let her do the work and told her not to forget the ones on the windows too while she was at it. After an eye roll she didn't bother to take them out of the windows probably thinking I was just being smart. She would be right. I was being smart and plus it saved me the time and trouble of taking them down if she was so determined I was determined to let her have at it.

It didn't last long her un-decorating the door. Half a door later she was complaining about the tape getting stuck to her fingers and that was the end of that.

After a little small talk about who did what in the family she was gone and I was gone. Now, I know she will be back since Thanksgiving is just a little more a few weeks away. But, I am ready.
