Kids Creations

We had an empty roll of wrapping paper and the little tube that is inside of it was up for grabs. My son quickly grabbed it. He was probably already thinking of what monster, minion, space ship, alien, or power ranger he can make with it. I know his little mind was working overtime thinking of ways to transform the ordinary into the extra ordinary.

He is very creative like that. I think he gets it from me and I get it from my mom. My mom was always helping me with various projects for school that involved drawing, crafting something or putting together some science project. Usually my science projects were about the planets. It seemed every year from the 5th to the 8th grade I was doing something that included making some kind of project involving the planets. One year in the 7th grade a classmate of mine did a project with the planets where she hung up some Christmas ornaments in a cardboard box and wrote names on the ornaments of the planets and put up a sign that said Merry Christmas from the planets. I thought that was very cleaver and wondered why I didn't think of it. Now, it sounds like something my son would think of.

So, as my son was gathering his supplies for his project I sat and watched curious to see what he would come up with. I didn't say anything probably to his great surprise. He walked in the room with tape, scissors, and a marker. I watched as he went back and got a piece of white paper and then sat down and lined up his supplies sort of assembly line style. Meticulously he pick up each item as needed and then proceeded to tape, draw and cut. It took him about 20 minutes to make one of whatever he was making. Then he started on another one.

As the time passed I peeked over a few times to see if he was done even though he had asked me not too look until after he was done. I just couldn't help being nosey. A little while later his masterpiece was done and I heard his footsteps walking out of the room towards my chair where I was not so patiently waiting.

He had something behind his back and he asked me if I was ready to see what he made. Of course I was more then ready. So, then he showed me his creation. I knew what was coming next. He asked me the one question he always does when he sees that puzzled but pleased look on my face. Thankfully, this time I guess correctly. From the look on his face he was just as shocked as I was when I got it right. 99% of the time I am wrong.

Today was a good day. I guessed right and he was pleased that I actually knew what it was. Hopefully for his next creation I will be able to guess correctly or if not at least come very, very close.
