You got Mail

Don't you hate it when you have to call a government or city office to find out some information and when you call you are more confused after the call then you were before you made the call in the first place. So, here I was sitting on the phone for ten minutes trying to find out some information and then the nice robot recorded message comes on and says for faster service please visit our website and gave me a long website with dot this and forward slash this and that but I was tired of being on hold so I said what the heck and wrote it down. It only took me 3 tries to get it right.

So, with my paper in hand I log on to the website and find an email of the person I was trying to reach to ask her directly what I needed to know. I was hoping that would save me lots of time and I can find out my answer and continue doing what I was doing before I needed to know. What I was doing was making tea for my son who hasn't moved too much from the couch since he has caught this flu bug. I was waiting for the tea to cool a little before I gave it to him. I had that resting on the counter in his favorite Winnie the Pooh mug while I emailed this person.

My faster response that they promised me wasn't really faster. I gave my son his tea and toast, plain no butter, as he requested and told him to sip the tea slowly so he wouldn't spill it all over the couch. He complied and slowly drank it and ate the plain toast and informed me he was done. I put his dishes in the kitchen and he went back to watching the Looney Tunes on TV. I went back to check on that email that was stressing me out now. I really didn't want to dial the number again and hang on hold for the next twenty minutes. Nothing was there. So, I decided to do a few things I had been putting off around the house like the dishes. I miss the dishwasher we had before we moved. So, dishes were done, kitchen cleaned and still nothing. I waited another few minutes and then decided if I didn't hear I would dial the number again.

As soon as I picked up the phone there it was the email I had been waiting for. I got all excited and opened it up. So, the answer to my question only lead to another question from me. I was glad I got an answer but the answer was vague and only told me part of what I needed to know.  That was a big let down for me. But, it didn't surprise me at all. I sent out another email asking her to explain the first email.  To my surprise I got an email a few minutes after I sent the last one asking for an explanation. This time it answered my question, somewhat. I decided that answer was as good as I was going to get today. Basically, I think I know what I need to know regarding this situation and it only took one phone call on hold and 2 emails. I consider myself lucky today.

Now tomorrow I probably won't be as lucky but I will take it today. And today I feel like a winner.
