Whew!
Today has been one of THOSE days. Actually, I have had a good 2-3 months of THOSE days. But, it all started yesterday when I was trying to download pictures from the camera to the computer. We have two computers in the house but one belongs to the online school my son attends. So, technically, that is not ours. So, I don't download or try not to download personal stuff on that one because eventually it will have to be returned. So, after I take these million pictures of my son I go and get the cable that came with the camera, I call it a cable, I don't know that proper name for it, and I sit down to download. I have an easy share camera but there was nothing easy about it yesterday. I had one of these cameras before and I loved it. It was simple to use and the pictures were nice. So, I got another one a sort of updated one that was gifted to me for Christmas. So, I just knew it would be easy. I was thinking I already had the software installed on the laptop computer from the old camera so this would be a breeze. Ok, I am not a technical person so that is probably why that way of thinking was totally wrong.
I connect the cable to the computer and the camera and the camera tells me that I need to go to the website for help. I try to go there. I type in the website and try to find the software for this camera and then the internet started acting crappy. If it wasn't going slower then a snail crossing a busy street then it was telling me that it was running a slow script or something like that. So, after about 2 hours of trying and cussing under my breath. Or at least I thought I was doing it under my breath until my son asked me what a particular word I said met. Apparently, he hadn't heard that word before. I told him that it was a bad word and that was about it. I then had no choice and went to the school computer to see if it was just the laptop that wasn't going to cooperate with me or what. I didn't have a problem on the school computer downloading anything and in a flash or a few flashes the pictures were there on the screen. I was happy and I happily sent them to people that couldn't be here in person.
That was about all I could accomplish that day. And I was happy with that. I didn't attempt to do too much more online that day. Fast forward to today, woke up and tried to go online. I kept getting "booted" off as in the error messages about the internet explorer is not working and would you like to update the latest version and this and that. Then I got a message saying there was no network. By then I had a headache.
After one aspirin and more mumbling under my voice of more of those not so good words, I decided to call the cable company. The recording said that the problem could be fixed perhaps if they reset the modem. It would take 30 seconds and then afterwards to restart the computer. So, after the resetting of all that was supposed to be reset nothing worked any better. So, I went and unplugged things and replugged things and turned things on and off and sat down and hoped that it was back. After about 20 minutes things came back to semi-normal. At least now my son can watch his shows on netflex and that is in one less headache for me.
Then the case of the disappearing ham came to light. My mom wanted some leftover ham for lunch. I told her that there probably wasn't too much left if any judging from the number of plates that my nephew had yesterday. So, she looks in the fridge and to her surprise there was nothing in the fridge, not even a hint that we had ham yesterday. No nothing on the shelf. My mom asked me where the ham was. I said to her apparently that pig got up and ran away. As a matter of fact, almost all of the food from yesterday disappeared into the bottomless pit of my nephew's stomach.
Lunch had to be something else because that little piggy was gone. Maybe the next ham we get will last more then a few hours. I am hoping anyway.
